Your skin is
an ecosystem.
A living community of microorganisms, alongside your skin barrier and immune system.
What we put on that ecosystem every day deserves consideration.
What are we asking our skin to live with every day?
Preservatives help protect products from microbial contamination. Surfactants help cleansers lift oils and material from skin. They have important jobs.
How do the products we use, day after day, interact with the ecosystem already living there?
Research is still developing. The answer depends on the formulation and how it is used. For us, that is a reason to keep asking better questions.

What is each ingredient? Why is it there?
We believe those questions deserve clear answers.

Understand what you put on your skin.
Know why it is there. Consider the ecosystem it meets.
The science behind the question
Skin microbiome research helps us think about the relationship between skin, microorganisms and everyday care. Ceela’s formulation philosophy is not evidence that conventional cosmetics harm the microbiome, or that preservative-free products are safer or improve it. Product safety depends on the complete formulation, manufacturing, packaging and use.
